PEER COUNSELING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

 

Through Peer Counseling services, Students are able to:

 

* Research and present information about the

   problems associated with teenage use of

   alcohol and other drugs.

 

* Examine with peers and knowledgeable adults

   the benefits of teenagers not using alcohol and

   other drugs.

 

* Analyze how alcohol and other drugs can

   interfere with healthy development,

   relationships, and future opportunities.

 

* Assess and identify help for the problems drug

   use causes in the school and community.

 

* Propose positive ways to handle typical drug-

  use situations and pressures.

 

* Take positive action by planning a drug-free

   activity and educating others in the school or a

   community about alcohol and other drugs,

   including the underlying causes of substance

   abuse.

 

 

PEER COUNSELING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

 

* Analyze influences that contribute to violence,

   including the media, negative role models, and

   injustice.

 

* Research and share information about the impact of

   violence.

 

* Learn ways to manage personal anger and help

   others calm down.

 

* Practice understanding another personís perspective

   and responding with empathy.

 

* Demonstrate how to respond effectively to

   intimidation and sexual harassment.

 

* Practice resolving conflicts peacefully.

 

* Identify ways to avoid becoming a victim of violence,

   including violence associated with weapons, drugs,

   and gangs.

 

* Propose, plan, and carry out a service-learning

   project that will help others learn how to avoid

   violence and/or resolve conflicts peacefully.

Help students gain the knowledge,  attitudes, and behaviors needed to grow up healthy and drug-free.

 

 

 

Help students identify factors that promote violence and learn strategies for managing anger, resolving conflicts peacefully, and preventing violence
